Coco Chanel founder of the Chanel fashion house is a Parisian based fashion industry. Gabrielle Chanel started with a small shop in Paris, in 1909, when she never ever had imagined this was a little door for her enormous success awaiting and would create a history in the world of fashion. Primarily, The Balsan home, the apartment where she had started with her small shop, she sold decorative hats to the French ladies who were accompanied with their Gentlemen, where she met Arthur Chapel, who saw the amazing qualities in Coco and helped her gain a position at 31 Rue Cambon in 1910. In 1913, Coco began with the women’s sports wear collection. Her designs were rather simple than creating a luxurious and affluent look. Later on she sold flannel blazers, long jersey sweaters, boat-neck tops, formal linen skirts and skirt-jackets. Her entire collection became very popular by 1915 and was quite appreciated for its simplicity allover France. Initially her dresses included sophisticated day dress with a coat, black evening wear dresses having a little bit of decoration with laces and embroidery and further improving its look by using fur, feathers and metallic fabrics with grey and amber shades. She however believed that the real elegance comes out from simplicity. The more simple a person is the more elegant he/she looks. The main competitors for Chanel in the international scenario are Christian Dior and LVMH group. In the 1950’s Christian Dior had a complete rule over the couture market, due to which Coco took financial help and business advice from Pierre who in return earned complete rights for the entire product range trade marked “Chanel”, it once again became a popular and well-known brand in the fashion industry. Presently Chanel specializes in luxury goods which include haute couture, handbags, perfumes, cosmetics, ready-to-wear and a lot more.
