hair stylists!?
i work in a salon that uses redkin…and for some reason i am extremely confused! does anyone know of any good websites to go to where i can read and understand. we use shades eq, fusion, color gels and shimmer one. when i was in school we use kp and second nature…i wish i could still use it i liked that alot! but i just need to read up on my information…anyone?
I generally find message boards on professional sites to be good sources of information. http://www.redkensalon.com has formulas, techniques, and other information pertaining to their products, and if you sign up for the message boards you can ask other stylists who are familiar with Redken color specific questions. Also, search the message boards at http://www.behindthechair.com for Redken. This site is open to all hair stylists, and you may find some helpful information on transitioning to Redken color.
Ask your salon’s product supplier if they have any paperwork on Redken color. Redken often supplies informational booklets on formulations, product descriptions and usage, and technicals. Also, study the color chart and swatch book for each color line. These help to explain the tonal values of each color, and what amount of developer is needed for each line.
In addition, never be afraid to ask another stylist experienced with Redken color for their opinion. Pretty soon you will find a few basic formulas that you love, and you can tweak them to make different variations.
Hope this helps you a little. I’m sure after a bit of practice you will feel comfortable using the Redken colors.
***Shades Eq is a demi-permanent. It has its own specific processing solution, and can not lighten hair.
***Color Gels are permanent, opaque haircolor (meaning the color is more solid. Less dimensional) They offer superior gray coverage. Color Gels can be mixed with 10, 20, 30, or 40 volume. Blonding Gels is double 40 vol.
***Color Fusion is permanent haircolor, but it is less opaque (meaning it will slightly pick up natural highlights, resulting in more multi-dimensional color). Advanced coverage series is ideal for covering gray hair. Can be mixed with 10, 20, 30, or 40 volume. (see chart for Double Blonde, Red, Brown Series proportions, they are each slightly different)
***Shimmer One is permanent, lifts one level or deposits, resulting in a less noticeable line of demarcation. It processes in 20 minutes. 20 vol.
