A lot of people want to have extra white teeth. This is evidenced by the big number of teeth whitening products available in the market these days. Before we look at the ways to have extra white let us first understand why we need them when most of us actually have white teeth when we were young.
Out teeth is covered and protected by enamel. The enamel protects the teeth from the effects of chewing, acidic substances, changes in temperature and trauma. Like any part of our body, prolonged exposure to all these causes wear and tear. Cracks, however minute they are, allow stains and debris to be deposited leading to yellowing. Coffee, tea and other heavily colored drinks and food contribute to this discoloration. Smoking and drinking red wine also causes staining.
Here are some tips to help you have extra white teeth.
- Use whitening toothpaste. They contain certain bleaching chemicals and abrasives to whiten teeth.
- Use brush-on whiteners. The whitening substance is applied to the surface of the teeth using an applicator that comes with the product. They can be used right after a meal so they could give an instant solution to staining caused by whatever you just ate. They are useful for people who go on business meetings a lot. This could also be very useful when you go on dates.
- Have in-office whitening. A dentist or a trained professional applies bleaching chemicals to the teeth. A qualified professional does this because the chemical used for bleaching is of a relatively higher concentration.
- Use dentist dispensed take-home whitening kit. This uses a milder bleaching solution. Since its concentration is not very high, it can be used for longer periods. This is also cheaper.
You can restore your original extra white teeth if you follow any of these steps. It would also be good if you will avoid those things that further causes staining.
